Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 June 2026

This Privacy Policy was prepared in English. If a translated version conflicts with the English version, the English version prevails.

SwiftShot is built privacy-first. Your screenshots, history and settings are stored locally in your browser and are never uploaded automatically. This policy explains what is stored, what is not collected, and the few cases where data leaves your device — always at your initiative.

1. Summary

SwiftShot does not track you, does not run analytics, does not require an account, and does not sell or share your data. Everything you capture stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to upload or share it.

2. What SwiftShot stores locally

The following is kept in your browser's local storage on your device and is fully under your control:

  • Screenshots you save to history
  • Editor content such as annotations, stickers and templates
  • Your preferences (theme, default format and quality, filename prefix, history size, delayed-capture seconds and similar settings)

3. What we do NOT collect

SwiftShot does not collect personal information, browsing history, analytics or telemetry. There are no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers, and no user accounts.

4. When data leaves your device

Your content only leaves your device when you choose an action that sends it, for example:

  • Using Upload to generate a shareable link, which stores the image with a hosting provider so the link can be opened
  • Sending a screenshot by email or to Slack from the Share menu
  • Copying to the clipboard or saving a file, which stays on your own device

5. Browser permissions

SwiftShot requests only the permissions needed to capture and edit the current page (such as access to the active tab when you trigger a capture). It does not read pages in the background or monitor your browsing.

6. Pro purchases

If you upgrade to Pro, the purchase and any billing details are handled by the relevant app store or payment processor under their own privacy terms. SwiftShot does not receive or store your full payment details.

7. Third-party services

When you choose to share, the destination service you select — for example an upload host, email provider or Slack — processes that content under its own privacy policy. The Chrome Web Store handles installation and updates under Google's terms.

8. Data retention and deletion

You control retention. You can delete individual screenshots, clear non-favourites, or empty your history at any time. Removing the extension clears its local data from your browser.

9. Children's privacy

SwiftShot is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
